Single claim against one contractor saw his rates jump 400 per cent

Private snow contractors are alarmed by how much their insurance premiums are skyrocketing, especially if a slip-and-fall claim is made against them. One contractor, who has had a single claim against his company, said his rates jumped 400 per cent, from $16,000 a year to $60,000 for the same coverage.
