The USGA and R&A’s consideration of equipment rule changes designed to reel in hitting distances would also have an agronomic impact. If changes are adopted by golf’s two leading governing bodies, golf courses wouldn’t have to continually expand and modify and could realize a reduction in the amounts of water, chemicals and other inputs needed.
