Police suspect arson as Halifax Public Gardens’ structure catches fire
Gardens hit in summer by axe-wielding vandals

What is regarded as the finest example of a Victorian garden in North America has been vandalized by axe and by fire. Police and firefighters responded last week to the Halifax Public Gardens to douse and investigate a fire at Horticultural Hall at the downtown Halifax site. Arson is suspected. In July, 32 trees at the park were vandalized with axes.
