Ontario snow and ice customers warned of challenges from possible road salt shortage

A road salt shortage may present a challenge to business and residential snow removal customers in Ontario as snow storms continue to move across the province.

CaledonEnterprise.com reports Landscape Ontario is warning about road salt supply challenges, noting supplies earmarked for municipal winter road maintenance are given higher priority.

The current shortage is being addressed as a “two-week pause” without a timeline provided for supply levels to return to normal. Various other alternatives have been suggested in the meantime, including brine and sand.
