Excessive road salt use endangers human health, drinking water supplies: study

A University of Toledo study suggests the overuse of road salt during the winter months threatens not only the environment, but human health. The study claims excessive road salt contaminates drinking water supplies, and was likely responsible for high levels of corrosive chloride in Flint, Mich.’s water supply that contributed to the release of lead in water distribution pipes.
