Ottawa is among the stops this fall on “The Power of Salt Brine” training tour designed to give contractors a face-to-face chance to learn best practices for using liquids as part of their snow and ice management programs.
The tour, sponsored by SnowEx, is coming to Ottawa on Sept. 14.
Companies that use liquid salt brine ice control program typically save tens of thousands of dollars in de-icing costs.
This year’s tour will visit 18 cities situated in the North American midwest and northeast. Ottawa is the lone Canadian city on the tour.
The program this year will explore how snow and ice professionals can reduce costs and increase profitability by adding liquid technology to their operations and take a proactive or preventative approach, effectively sell liquid control strategies to customers and build them into contracts, reduced potential liability by using liquid ice control techniques, and minimize the environmental impacts of rock salt on infrastructure, ecosystems and water sources and significantly reduce property damage.
Training sessions will be led by Daniel Gilliland, training manager for SnowEx Liquid Solutions in North America, and Pam Buckley, sustainability manager for Douglas Dynamics.
