Manitoba’s lawn care industry applauds province’s pesticide turnaround bill, but…
Thousands already spent on alternative products
March 15, 2022 By Turf & Rec

Proposed changes to Manitoba’s cosmetic pesticide legislation had led to mixed feelings within the province’s lawn care profession. The provincial government has introduced a new bill to end the current ban on cosmetic pesticide products used in lawn care, sports fields and other green spaces. The owner of Green Blade Lawn Care says he welcomes the proposed change in policy, but adds the timing of enacting it may be a bit premature. He notes that his business and other lawn care companies in Manitoba have already sold programs for this season and have spent thousands of dollars in previously approved products.
Meanwhile, the Manitoba Nursery Landscape Association applauds the bill, saying it’s been long overdue.
