Exmark Manufacturing laid off 80 full-time employees at its Beatrice, Neb. in early April as a result of a decrease in production demand.
The commercial mower manufacturer announced the temporary layoffs will begin April 20. Additionally, all remaining seasonal workers are to be laid off at that time. The company also anticipates the layoff of another 40 full-time employees around the beginning of August.
An Exmark spokesman, however, said the actions will keep the company competitive in the market, and the affected employees will be hired back once production demand increases which he expects will occur at the start of the next fiscal year in October.
