El Nino winter keeping Ottawa-area snow contractors’ plows parked
Contractor says he's dealt with only one snow event so far this winter

Snow contractors in the Ottawa area are lamenting the milder-than-normal conditions so far this winter.
Typically, private snow removal contractors have been out about six times by this stage of winter, but Ottawa contractors have dealt with only one significant snowfall so far this winter.
Ottawa-based Kodiak Snow Removal’s customers signed up for the company’s seasonal services months ago, but the lack of snow has kept plows parked.
Environment Canada was forecasting about two inches of snow for the Ottawa area this week along with a dip in temperatures.
An El Nino winter has been predicted this year, bringing milder temperatures and little snow.
