Dutch elm disease claims four Fredericton trees in historic area

July 30, 2018 – Four mature elm trees afflicted with Dutch elm disease in Fredericton, N.B. will be cut and removed, even though three of them are located in the city’s historic Garrison District. The city doesn’t usually announce its tree-removal plans, but the fate of downtown trees has become an issue since is was announced 19 trees would be cut down at Officers’ Square.
