CGSA honours Stanley Thompson with its 2020 John B. Steel Award

Renowned architect designed or worked on more than 150 courses

Stanley Thompson, one of the most prolific Canadian golf course architects, is being honoured by the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association as the 2020 recipient of its John B. Steel Distinguished Service Award. Thompson, who died in 1953, designed or worked on more than 150 golf courses in Canada, the United States, Jamaica, Brazil and Colombia. According to the CGSA, the award recognizes someone who has “made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the profession of golf course superintendent.”
