Spill of artificial turf materials into Washington river leads to charge against U.S. company
Pieces still being found three years later

A U.S. hydroelectric dam operation has been charged and fined following a spill of synthetic field turf into the Puyallop River in Washington in 2020. Electron Hydro LLC is to pay $1 million for projects aimed at restoring salmon habitat. A local Indigenous band say biologists continue to find pieces of artificial turf and crumb rubber in the river.
