Neighbours’ opposition to field’s upgrade plans leads to scaling back of improvements

Eight-lane track dropped from original plan

Plans for upgrades to a high school sports field in Cochrane, Alta. have been scaled backed somewhat, based on concerns from neighbouring residents. The natural grass field, slated to be converted to an artificial playing surface marked for soccer and football, was originally perceived as a “festival site” – one that could stage such non-sporting events as graduations and plays. But, opposition to such events from neighbours has led to plans scaled back to keep the facility geared toward school and community athletics.
