Debate ensues over plans for Calgary park, but council votes 9-5 in favour of proposal
Officials say there will be green space net gain
July 28, 2021 By Calgary Herald

Plans have been approved in Calgary for the proposed sale of a portion of Richmond Green Park. The approval to designate 5.5 acres of the park for new development, however, triggered a lengthy debate, resulting in a 9-5 council vote to support the plan. In spite of much public opposition to the plan, city officials say it will result in a net gain of green space at the park, with the Richmond Green golf course being turned into public space as well as unused city operations yards.
