Abbotsford, B.C. wants to know if its sports field inventory can hold up to growing population

Abbotsford, B.C. expects its population to grow another 50,000 people over the next 15 years and wants to know if its current inventory of 59 outdoor sports field and 53 courts will be adequate.

Fraser Valley Today reports the city is in the opening stage of a sports field and court strategy that involves public consultation to determine where investments can be made, how management can improve and what municipal resources can be earmarked for new development and restoration.

Local residents have about three weeks to complete a 15-t0-20-minute online survey. The project’s second stage is set to get underway early next year with the strategy’s completion expected later in 2025.
