Brine becoming more popular as rock salt prices remain high

A number of private snow contractors are turning to brine as a de-icing agent, not only because of its environmental attributes, but due to the soaring costs of rock salt.

Even though the road salt shortage has been resolved, the price increases associated with the recent insufficiency appear to be here to stay. This has led to a number of snow contractors turning to brine as a more cost-effective de-icing method, and they appreciate its environmental friendliness as well.
