Work to clean up fallen trees from derecho storm should keep Ottawa-area arborists going for another 18 months
Arborists working 12-hour days to keep up
June 1, 2022 By Turf & Rec
Ottawa-area arborists are saying cleanup of fallen trees from the May 21 derecho storm event that ripped through the region could take up to 18 months to complete. Arborists are working 12-hour days and have been refuelling their chainsaws up to 15 times a day to keep up with the workload. Work has progressed slowly to ensure larger trees are cut up into several manageable pieces. One arborist said he expects the work generated from the storm will keep his employees on the payroll until at least Christmas of 2023.
