Winnipeg council votes overwhelmingly against sale of Blumberg golf course
Need for green spaces has been re-evaluated
January 28, 2022 By Turf & Rec

Winnipeg council has voted overwhelmingly against the sale of the city-owned John Blumberg Golf Course. Mayor Brian Bowman expressed dismay over the 13-3 vote, noting the property had been declared surplus in 2013. The property seemed destined to be sold for $13.7 million until the outcome of a committee meeting earlier this month changed matters. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has led both the public and elected official to re-evaluate the appreciation of green spaces.
