Weather and water restrictions delay opening of replacement sports park in Calgary

Sod laid reportedly not up to standard

June 17, 2024  By Turf & Rec

The much-anticipated opening of a $13.8-million replacement athletic park in Calgary’s Glenmore district has been delayed until later this summer.

According to CBC News, weather, water restrictions and additional remediation work have set back the opening which was to have taken place in the spring.

The sod that has been laid is reportedly not up to standard and drainage issues still exist.

Contributing to the delay is the recent water feeder main break which prompted the city to declare a state of emergency.
