Vernon, B.C. is taking a hard look at how it can keep a lid on its Canada geese problems.
Large numbers of geese have been congregating at Paddlewheel Park and Kin Beach, prompting council to take the appropriate course of action. Council has weighed such options as creating new landscape designs, installing fencing and cleaning up turf areas.
Council was presented another option at its most recent meeting. An unnamed contractor has pitched the idea of a “goose harvest” which has intrigued council.
In addition to receiving a report about the next steps in goose management, council has opted to invite the contractor to a future meeting to provide more details about the goose harvest proposal.
