University of Guelph offers short course Jan. 28-Feb. 22

The University of Guelph is offering its annual Turf Managers' Short Course for aspiring turf managers Jan. 28 to Feb. 22, 2013.

The university is urging prospective applicants to register early since the course traditionally fills up quickly.

Instruction will be provided by both university faculty and industry professionals who will provide instruction which covers all sectors of the industry, including golf, lawn and landscaping, sports turf and sod production. The course has been accredited by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association and the IPM Council of Canada.

Topics of instruction will include turfgrass identification, turf management, diseases, insects, integrated pest management, weed management, soils, irrigation, construction and drainage, equipment and landscape management.
