Trees continue to fall in Winnipeg as city tries to stay ahead of Dutch elm disease
City cut down 8,000 trees in 2020

Winnipeg residents are saddened to see so many mature elm trees continue to be felled throughout the city, but it’s something that must be done to contain the spread of Dutch elm disease. The city lost 8,000 elms in 2020. Winnipeg’s goal is to manage the disease in order to reduce the impact on the urban forest.
