Toronto public school opens new Jays-contributed Field of Dreams ball diamond
Diamond features clay infield and outfield drainage
August 12, 2024 By Turf & Rec
Toronto’s Eastview Public School has opened its new ball diamond that featured financial input from the Toronto Blue Jays’ Jay Care Foundation.
The school was one of 14 Field of Dreams recipients this year. The baseball diamond features a clay infield, outfield drainage, fencing and dugouts. Bleachers are yet to be installed.
The diamond will not only give students from the school a place to play baseball, but will help to promote physical activity.
An official opening ceremony included the attendance of Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow, school board officials and Ace, the Blue Jays’ mascot.
