‘Tired’ artificial turf field at Sarnia park among targeted upgrades required for facility

Facilities underwent 1,000 hours of play in 2023

A Sarnia, Ont. sports park is considered tired and in need of upgrades as its artificial turf surface reaches the end of its life.

City council is contemplating a $78,000 bid to create a master plan for Norm Perry Memorial Park. Flag football, soccer and rugby are among the sports played at the park.

Sarnia’s mayor says a formal plan is needed to advance the park over the next couple of years. If a plan is approved, an analysis and review work could begin this month with a final plan in place before the end of the year.

More than 1,000 hours of play were realized at the park during the 2023 season.
