Thunder Bay’s proposed indoor turf facility delayed again until after new council elected
Project in the making for 10 years
July 27, 2022 By Turf & Rec

Another setback has hit Thunder Bay, Ont.’s proposed indoor sports facility. Council has opted to delay its advancement of the project, leaving the matter in the hands of October’s newly elected council. The facility, which would be outfitted with artificial turf, would serve as an indoor soccer and baseball venue and used year-round. The city’s soccer registrations have ballooned in recent years. The project has been in the making for 10 years, and the president of Soccer Northwest Ontario says current and would-be councillors are well aware of its importance to the community.
