Thunder Bay still waiting word from federal government about funding for indoor sports facility
City hopes feds will fund half of $44.8M project

The fate of a proposed indoor turf sports facility in Thunder Bay, Ont. remains up in the air as the city awaits word from the federal government about funding support. While the city continues to wait for a response to its $22-million funding request, Thunder Bay’s administration recommends the matter remain paused. The application to Infrastructure Canada’s Green and Inclusive Community Building program was made eight months ago. The full cost of the project is estimated at $44.8 million.
