Trees are being removed in Sydney, N.S. as part of a flood mitigation project, but some nearby residents aren’t convinced the strategy is worth the loss of tree cover. The urban forest should be protected, one resident said, adding cutting down trees won’t help with climate change. A spokesperson for the Cape Breton Regional Municipality said the project’s goal isn’t to eliminate flooding, but to dial back its severity.
