Soaring snow removal insurance premiums getting out of hand: Alberta contractors

The cost of obtaining insurance for providing snow removal services is getting out of hand, say snow contractors in Alberta. The owner of Canada Yard Pro said he paid $7,800 last year, but quotes this season have soared as high as $65,000. He was able to have his premiums scaled back to a 30 per cent increase, but it came with provisions so severe that it forced him to close shop after 15 years in business.
