SIMA reschedules snow and ice symposium to August
COVID-19 pushes symposium back to Aug. 25-28
April 7, 2020 By Turf & Rec

The Snow & Ice Management Association has rescheduled its annual snow and ice symposium to Aug. 25-28. Originally scheduled for June, the event has been pushed back amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The symposium will still take place in Hartford, CT.
“There is no replacement for the networking and personal relationships that are built at the Best Show in Snow,” an announcement from SIMA states. “We need those now more than ever — we’ll just have to wait a little longer.”
“In light of the ongoing developments of the coronavirus, this was the appropriate decision at this time.
“The good news is that the Connecticut Convention Center and our partner hotels were able to offer SIMA the needed exhibit space, meeting rooms and hotel rooms to hold a successful event. Most of the speakers scheduled for June are able to be there in late August, with a few exceptions that we are planning for. The symposium in August will still provide you with the highest quality of education, resources and networking opportunities needed to help you and your business position itself for success in the 2020-21 winter season.
“We want to make the transition date as smooth as possible for our members and attendees. If you have already registered, your registration is automatically transferred to the new dates. For your hotel reservation, your June reservation will be automatically canceled and you will need to make a new hotel reservation for August. The hotel booking page will be available on April 15, 2020. We will contact you once the new links to hotel reservations are available.
“If you cannot attend the symposium because of a conflict with the new dates, consider exchanging your registration with a co-worker. This could be a good time to introduce a person from your company to the symposium experience if they have not attended in the past. If that is not possible, we will work with you on a refund or to apply the registration fees to other training or certifications.
Like everyone, we want to see the coronavirus and COVID-19 go away quickly with the least amount of impact to our health and to the health of our friends, colleagues and family. When this virus passes, we will still want to meet together as a professional industry to prepare for the next challenges and opportunities for success.”
