Scalped soccer field in Cape Breton might have been intended for cricket play

Vandals' intention could create injury hazard for soccer players

A large section of a Cape Breton soccer field was purposely scalped during the weekend, leaving a three-by-12-metre patch as a potential playing hazard. The vice-president of the Glace Bay Soccer Association says the damage could lead to players twisting their ankles or subjecting themselves to abrasion burn. The soccer association believes someone might have been trying to turn the field into a cricket pitch.
