Saskatchewan to remove Dutch elm diseased-inflicted trees in eight communities
Work to begin in fall, early winter
July 26, 2022 By Turf & Rec

Elm trees infected with Dutch elm disease will be removed from eight Saskatchewan communities this fall and early winter, Environment Minister Dana Skoropad says.
“Dutch elm disease is an ongoing concern for Saskatchewan residents and wildlife,” she said.
Regina-based Northern Tree Company Inc. will remove and dispose of the affected trees after they’ve been marked by survey contractors.
The communities targeted include Balcarres Estevan, Indian Head, Melfort, Moose Jaw, Regina, Tisdale and Wolseley.

It is illegal to use, transport, store or buy elm firewood. Nor can elm trees be pruned between April 1 to Aug. 31.
