Saanich asks neighbouring communities to help fund bordering park acquisition

Park purchased from BC Hydro for $5.5 million

The mayor of Saanich, B.C. has reached out to the councils of two other neighbouring communities for assistance in preserving Kings Park. The property was purchased two years ago by Saanich from BC Hydro at a cost of $5.5 million so that it could be maintained in perpetuity as a green space. The park borders both Victoria and Oak Bay, and those municipalities have been asked for help in offsetting the park’s acquisition cost.
