Rossi to headline new education/golf event for OVTA

June 15, 2015  By  Mike Jiggens

Syngenta Canada is sponsoring a new education and golf event this summer for members of the Ottawa Valley Turfgrass Association.

Ryan Beauchamp, Syngenta turf specialist, said the plan is to hold the event every two years. Scheduled this year for July 21, participants will spend the morning listening to Cornell University’s Dr. Frank Rossi at an OVTA-approved seminar at Ottawa’s Camelot Golf & Country Club in Cumberland. Rossi is being sponsored by Intelligro.

Afterwards, selected members will represent OVTA in the Syngenta Challenge at Camelot against a team representing Superintendant Region de Montreal (SRM). A championship belt will be awarded to the winning golf team.

The event is similar in nature to the popular Syngenta Cup event which annually pits a team from the Greater London & Area Golf Superintendents (GLAGS) against a team from the Kent Essex Greenkeepers Society (KEGS). Unlike that fall event, which is played for charity, July’s Syngenta Challenge will bear an educational focus.

Rossi, in fact, will be out on the golf course to meet with each team before flying home.

OVTA and SRM members will be provided with more details as the date draws nearer.
