
Prior to the implementation of the current province-wide ban of cosmetic pest control products in Ontario, some homeowners took a proactive approach toward their lawns, planting alternative ground cover which does not require such products for its continued maintenance. In fact, such "lawns" may be altogether maintenance-free. In spite of her best intentions, one Ottawa-area resident recently ran afoul of existing municipal bylaws which found her front-yard garden in violation of regulations.
