Regina’s tree losses outpacing its new plantings; extended drought a factor

Tree removals in Regina are exceeding plantings. The city is reporting extended drought in Saskatchewan has caused many trees to die. According to Environment Canada, Regina experienced its fourth lowest amount of precipitation in 2020 in 130 years. As of the end of September of this year, 519 trees had been removed. Storms also accounted for significant tree loss.
