Recommendation to keep Toronto’s municipal golf courses open amid other suggestions
January 7, 2022 By Turf & Rec
A recommendation to keep Toronto’s five city-owned golf courses open for continued play will be presented to council next week, but other groups and individuals are pressuring the city to consider other uses. The recommendation by city staff is to maintain the courses as an affordable way for residents to enjoy the game while also allowing off-season access to the properties for such uses as jogging and hiking. Advocacy groups, however, suggest the properties could serve as urban agricultural grounds where food can be grown.
