Both club staff and members of the B.C. Wildfire Service worked all weekend to bolster the Mill Creek shoreline in an effort to keep rising waters away from the Shadow Ridge Golf Club in Kelowna.
The rising waters were first noticed on April 28 and have been rising steadily since. Flooding of the creek last year was considered catastrophic. For now, any water that has spilled over has been contained to the parking lot, but it is being pumped out.
The course planned to close for a day, using the opportunity to aerate greens.
Superintendent Rick Martin said efforts are ongoing to protect the golf course. Spring flooding last year forced the course to close until it reopened May 26.
Course officials are confident golfers can play again this week.
