Prince Albert to borrow $30 million, by slim vote of council, to fund new recreation centre
Risk too much for city, say those opposed
June 16, 2022 By Turf & Rec

The City of Prince Albert, Sask. will borrow $30 million to fund the construction of a new aquatic and arenas recreation centre. Council voted 5-4 in favour of obtaining the loan with those opposed citing the risk was too great for the city to manage. The city originally budgeted $60 million for the centre, with $44 million coming from the federal and provincial governments. Inflation, however, caused the project’s price tag to reach $113.8 million.
