Pin removal, bunker raking returning to Saskatchewan golf courses on Monday

Game inching closer to its pre-pandemic standards

June 22, 2021  By Turf & Rec

Starting Monday, a number of COVID-19 safety restrictions will be lifted on Saskatchewan golf courses.

Golfers will be able to remove the flagstick when putting, can use rakes to smooth their footprints in bunkers, and putt into holes that had previously been raised by pool noodles.

The announcement was made yesterday by Golf Saskatchewan. One restriction, however, that has yet to be waived still prevents golfers from outside the province to compete in Saskatchewan tournaments.

A representative from Golf Saskatchewan said courses are apt to be busy for the next few days to make the adjustments necessary to move the game closer towards its pre-pandemic standards.
