Brampton, Ont.’s Peel Village Golf Course is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
The nine-hole municipal course was constructed on a 67-acre flood plain surrounding the Etobicoke Creek.
Formerly known as the Brampton Golf Course until 1963, Peel Village became the first municipal course in Canada to become fully certified under the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System in 1998.
The centennial celebration was recently marked by a ceremony at the golf course that included Mayor Patrick Brown, regional councillor Rowena Santos and several other local dignitaries.
