December 10, 2020 By Turf & Rec
The Ontario Turfgrass Symposium will be presented in a virtual format in 2021, and is also going national for the first time. COVID-19 safety protocols have prompted the annual winter event to be presented online between Feb. 16 and March 26.
Several prerecorded sessions will be offered to further educate those in the golf, sports turf, lawn care, nursery sod and recreational facilities sectors of the industry.
Among the confirmed sessions include:
• MLSN and nutrient management myths and truths: sorting out what you really need to know, presented by John Bladon of the Chimera Group.
• Bentgrass selection tool, presented by Dr. Bobby Kerr of the Chicago District Golf Association, and Dan Dinelli of the North Shore Country Club.
• Myths and solutions for chinch bug control in cosmetic landscapes, presented by Cameron Shaw of the University of Guelph
• Highlighting the true value of Sports Turf Canada’s Sports Field Construction Manual, presented by Mike Rossi of Dol Turf Restoration Ltd.
Other topics to be addressed include the foundations of artificial turf maintenance, endophytic inoculants to improve turf health, reducing pesticide use on golf courses, sustainability, and assessing microclimates for successful management of home lawns.
Continuing education points are available for attendees.
Registration is now open but ends on March 19. To register, click here.
