Now is the time to reopen outdoor activities, says infectious disease specialist

He says transmission risk 18-20 times lower outdoors than indoors

As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to decrease and the rate of vaccinations increases, now is the time to reopen some sporting activities in Ontario, says an infectious disease specialist at Queen’s University and Kingston Health Sciences Centre. Dr. Gerald Evans, also a member of the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table, said he doesn’t see a downside to outdoor activities, including golf, and says the risk of transmission is 18 to 20 times lower than it is indoors.
