NFL’s ‘Sodfather’ points finger of blame at league field director for poor Super Bowl field conditions
Field director watered 'the hell' out of the playing surface, veteran groundskeeper says

Two weeks after the National Football League’s Super Bowl was played, criticisms over the field conditions at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. are still being heard. This time, the fury is being unleashed by 94-year-old George Toma – the league’s longtime Super Bowl head groundskeeper who’s also known as “The Sodfather.” He blames NFL field director Ed Mangan for watering “the hell” out of the field prior to game time without giving it a chance to dry out.
