OTRF enjoys another successful fundraiser

Another successful fundraiser was realized in August at the annual Ontario Turfgrass Research Foundation golf tournament, played at the Mississaugua Golf & Country Club.

Noteworthy were cheques in the amounts of $20,000 and $15,000 which were presented, respectively, by the Ontario Golf Superintendents Association and Golf Ontario.

Golfers praised the efforts of Mississaugua superintendent Jonathan Smith who provided participants with lush conditions during a dry summer period. He said the club was fortunate to have a permit to draw water from the Credit River which winds its way throughout the course and adds to its scenery.

In its thank you letter to the Mississaugua Golf & Country Club, the OTRF stated: “Our guest list included many who gain their employment through the golf industry and, as you can appreciate, were quite impressed with the impeccable course conditions and proficient staff. Jonathan Smith and his turf department, Dennis Firth and his staff, along with the entire catering department, thoroughly outdid themselves to provide a perfect golfing day for our guests.”
