William (Buck) Uffelman, former president of Ontario Seed Company in Waterloo, died Sunday, Feb. 13 at the age of 85.
He was a third generation president of the company founded by his grandfather. Buck's son Scott is currently president of OSC and represents the fourth generation of the Uffelman family to run the business.
In addition to Scott, Buck is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth and Cathy, who both work at OSC, as well as his brother Jim.
Although Scott took over as company president in the 1990s, Buck "never really retired," said Dave Schmelefske of OSC, adding he was always at the office to keep in touch with other staff. "Buck was an incredible man whose love of life, family and friends was truly genuine! This is a very sad time
for the Uffelman family and his extended OSC family."
