Sept. 4, 2019 – Edmonton’s choice of using calcium chloride as an ice-melting product has put the city on the defensive in a lawsuit launched by a resident who claims the product is seriously damaging concrete pads. The city has been testing calcium chloride in a pilot project aimed at finding an effective alternative to salt.
