Burlington’s tree canopy dangerously shrinking

Nov. 22, 2018 – Burlington, Ont.’s tree canopy is in serious crisis, and if trees continue to disappear at the current rate, the city’s canopy may fall as low as eight per cent by 2042. Environment Canada recommends a canopy ranging between 30 and 50 per cent as a healthy tree canopy is one of the best tools to absorb carbon and mitigate flood damage.
