News reports of Elliot Lake golf course’s status trigger inaccurate assumptions on social media

Recent media reports about the status of Elliot Lake, Ont.’s Stone Ridge Golf Course have led to inaccurate social media statements in the community, the city’s mayor says. Mayor Dan Marchisella says social media responses appear to be based on inaccurate assumptions. He clarified that the recommendation to come before council’s March 14 meeting states that council declares the golf course surplus and gets a professional appraisal of land and assets, and turns down current offers for the golf course.
