New dollar spot fungicide gets Canadian registration

May 11, 2015  By  Mike Jiggens

Engage Agro Corporation and Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha (ISK) of Osaka, Japan have announced the approval of a dollar spot control product by Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency.

Kabuto 400SC fungicide has been approved for dollar spot control on sod farms and golf courses.

The product contains the active ingredient isofetamid, a new chemistry available in Canada and the first turf registration in North America.

“Dollar spot is one of the most common and expensive turfgrass diseases in Canada, and Kabuto 400SC fungicide has proven in research trials to provide powerful control of this potentially devastating disease,” said Justin Parsons, sales and account manager for Engage Agro’s professional turf products.

The new and unique active ingredient, isofetamid, is a fourth generation SDHI (succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors), making Kabuto 400SC Fungicide an ideal product for resistance management.

“Kabuto 400SC Fungicide offers low application rates, a liquid formulation and convenient packaging for quick and easy applications throughout the growing season,” added Barry Johnson, marketing manager for Engage Agro’s professional turf products. “Engage Agro and ISK are excited to offer this new innovation to professional turf managers in Canada.”
