New Brunswick First Nation community to upgrade its fields with Blue Jays’ assistance
Diamonds need new fencing, bases and dugout improvements
May 5, 2023 By Turf & Rec

Elsipogtog First Nation, located north of Moncton, will be getting badly needed funding from the Toronto Blue Jays’ charitable arm to upgrade its ball diamonds.
The current state of the community’s baseball diamonds includes torn fencing, graffiti on the dugout benches, damaged dugout roofs and bases that are in poor condition. Organizers are also looking at upgrading their field lighting to accommodate evening games.
The New Brunswick community is one of 15 across Canada to be receiving funding from the Jays Care Foundation’s Field of Dreams program.
Other First Nations communities to benefit from the program include the Louis Bull Tribe in Maskwacis, Alta. and Dakota Plains school in Manitoba.
